Within relationships, there is a brief period of time when our hearts are so full to overflowing that we have no conflict with life. The shift to the experience of heartfulness and wholeness is so complete that we find ourselves in a near-ecstatic state. Zero conflict—only the unity, unity, unity of turned-on and open hearts.

It was the miraculously brief, co-dependent unifying experience called romantic love, also known as the birth of love.

But because the experience was not understood or integrated, our minds quickly took over again. Slowly, the experience began to fade, and low-level conflict began. Then we felt that the other must be responsible for the loss—because we certainly wouldn’t give up something that profound.

Perhaps we had a moment of understanding that love is absolutely not controlled by the mind—that the mind cannot create it, cannot sustain it, and cannot reconnect us to it in any way. But mostly, it remained a confusing and frequently painful loss.

Low-grade love then becomes a reality.

Soon, we begin denying love, doubting love, betraying love. Then the secondary toxic emotions start to develop and build up inside us—anger, fear, blame, shame, guilt, envy, jealousy, ignorance, arrogance, greed, and hatred. These barriers to love then become very thick, and love is increasingly lost.

The Correct Diagnosis

It is the natural loss of love—connection to the heart—that everyone in relationship undergoes. And no one is to blame, because we have never been taught the stages of love, the natural loss of romantic love, or how to integrate and liberate the next stage of love called the unconditional love of self and others.

No one is to blame for relationship conflicts!

Time to stop pretending that we’re doing fine, that we have a relationship that’s fine—when in reality we secretly mourn the loss of love and remain confused about love.

No number of outer affairs, mental efforts, or sexual encounters can make up for the deep energetic intimacy that only the fully activated heart center can provide us with.

How profound to know that there is another stage of love and relationship!
